Takrut

Takrut

Takruts are amongst some of the oldest protective amulets in history and they are generally worn for protection, luck and blessings. Takrut (or Takrud) is a rolled talisman sheet that comes in various shapes, sizes and material where; sacred mantras, magical diagrams, pictures or ancient languages (such as Pali or Khom) are inscribed on a piece of metal sheet (typically).

Most Takruts are primarily consecrated for KongKraPan and KaewKlaad (mainly for protection and invulnerability, by protecting the wearers from harm, accidents, black magic, weapons or sharp objects). Other Takruts commonly available in Thailand include those that bring Metta Mahaniyom (for charm, personal attractiveness, be welcomed and cherished by peers, colleagues or even strangers), ChokLarp and KhaKhai (good fortune, wealth/business luck).
